Event Overview
Last June 11, 2025, the Early Education (EEdu) Area and UP Preschool Practitioners (UP PREP) organized the celebration of the International Day of Play 2025 through an event called “Laro, Palaro, Palaruan!”. The event was designed like an arcade, where participants enjoyed playing at different game booths. The participants earned tickets by joining and winning games, which they could later exchange for prizes at the rewards booth. These prizes were generously donated by the REGALE faculty and UP PREP. Guests freely roamed from booth to booth, choosing from a wide variety of engaging play stations that sparked both nostalgia and curiosity. Each station was staffed by an assigned person who monitored the game and explained the mechanics to those unfamiliar with it. Some of the games available at the booths included Chinese garter, hopscotch (piko), sungka, Jenga, Word Factory, ring toss, jackstone, yo-yo, trumpo, and chess. Even though the rain made the atmosphere gloomy, children – including UPIS students with their parents – along with college students, College of Education faculty and staff, and even guests from outside the community, enjoyed celebrating the joy of play. The event reminded everyone of the importance of playing and having fun, no matter their age.
