Because reading allows us to build not only ourselves but also our nation, we have set sail — seeking to spread the word about literature and literacy, and forge new routes towards our goals.
From all over the university, we gathered and committed ourselves to a journey. We are setting sail towards a Filipino community that upholds a genuine love for reading and functional literacy for all.
It all started with a need to find friends, a place to belong to, a home. Finally, a few people met to form the first family of UP Educators’ Circle. They were different people, yet they were of the same concern and spirit. They wanted to foster friendship among the students of UP College of Education. It was on November 19, 1987, when the UP Educators’ Circle was formed. Initially, with 14 members, the circle of friends grew and the organization has stood the test of time. At present, UP Educators’ Circle is the oldest organization in the College of Education, boasting 27 years of service and its lifelong advocacy of training, teaching, and touching lives.
