Dubbed as PRESET 2011, the convention aimed to gather preservice teachers in early childhood, elementary education, and secondary education, and engage them in educational and entertaining activities.

Winners of the competition were: Gemdrei Navarro, 1st place, Lesson Planning and Micro-Teaching; Gemdrei Navarro and Duday Duran, 1st place, Research Writing/Presentation; Andrea Go, 1st place, Indigenized Materials Making; Jessa Cadacio, 1st Place, Quiz Bee (General and Professional Education) ; and Duday Duran, 1st Runner up, PRESET Model 2011.

The microteaching festival, where Navarro got the highest award, highlighted effective ways of integrating a national or global concern that was presented in the plenary session. The festival provided a venue for observing how the specific topic can be concretely demonstrated in classroom proceedings.

The PRESET research forum sought to promote the culture of research and reflective thinking. Student teacher presenters, to include Navarro and Duran, disseminated helpful research-based data while sharpening their presentation skills.

The indigenized materials exhibition focused on teachers’ inventiveness and practical ways of selecting, developing, and using materials to aid instruction. In this activity, student teacher delegates competed before a live audience on how to create cost-effective and useful materials for teaching across content areas and levels. Go eventually won the competition.

A “battle of the brain” or the PRESET Whiz 2011, where Cadacio was declared winner, focused on general, professional, and specialized education content.

Student delegates also competed for the title “PRESET Model 2011”, a mini pageant which showcased student teachers with beauty and brain. Duran was judged first runner up of the pageant.

Congratulations! You made us all so proud!
